Why Frigidaire Dishwasher Won’t Start? Troubleshoot and Diagnosis
There are several common problems that can occur with appliances that are not in good working order, but the Frigidaire name is well-known for being trouble-free. Many issues you can quickly fix at home. Let’s check them one by one.
Dishwasher is Not Getting Power
If you observe that Frigidaire Dishwasher Not Working, No Lights On The Panel, then the possible cause will be that your dishwasher is not getting power.
Please ensure that you do not do any activity which you have not done before. For electrical issues, it is always best practice to consult an electrician before proceeding further.
As always, first, you need to check if the dishwasher breaker is tripped or not?
You need to check the junction box connection, which you can find on the right side of the dishwasher.
Check and make sure that power cables are properly connected. If the power cables are not installed correctly, then wires may disconnect or get burnt, which will result in no power issue after some time.
For repair, please TURN BREAKER OFF and remove any burnt wire and then reconnect the cables again.
If the wire connection is good, then check the THERMAL FUSE. See if it is blown or not. You can locate the thermal fuse of the control board.
The main function of a thermal fuse is to prevent the control board from overheating.
A short circuit or overheat can cause the thermal fuse not to work. You should replace the faulty thermal fuse.
Lock Button Issue
One of the main causes of Frigidaire Dishwasher Won’t Start issues is that the lock button is ON or is not working properly.
If you observe that the control panel has lights on, it does not respond, locating the lock button. Press the lock button for 3 seconds to unlock it.
Many models have a heat dry pad that they use to lock which other models have a control lock. If you see lock lights on near the Heat Dry Pad, then the lock is activated by the pad.
When the lock is ON, then you will not be able to use the dishwasher. To disable it, press the Heat Dry Pad for 3 secs to unlock it.
If the Frigidaire Dishwasher Lights On But Won’t Start, then there may be an issue with the touchpad or ribbon cable connection to the touchpad.
The start button is not working, but other buttons such as the heat/high temp button have a flashing light, but the start button does not respond at all then; please check the touchpad.
This issue can happen due to a faulty touchpad or damaged ribbon cable. Sometimes the housing seal may crack, and the moisture may get into the control panel and damage the ribbon cable contacts.
To fix this, disassemble the front panel and repair the contacts of the cable. If cleaning the ribbons don’t solve the Frigidaire Dishwasher Won’t Start problem, then you need to replace the touchpad.
Water Supply Issues
If you cannot start the Frigidaire dishwasher and it has a power ON, it may be due to a low water supply. You can follow the below steps to inspect and check whether the water supply is the problem:
- Check and ensure that the water supply valve is ON. sometimes valve will not move; in those cases, you may have to replace it.
- Inspect the water inlet hoses and make sure that there are no bent or kinks. You should replace damaged hoses.
- Take a water pressure gauge and use it to test the water pressure. If the water pressure is below 30 psi, you may have to increase the water pressure to solve it.
Door Latch Or Door Latch Switch
If the Frigidaire Dishwasher Won’t Start, then check the door latch or door latch switches. The door latch assembly’s main function is to keep the door closed during the wash cycle and prevent any water leakage.
If the door cannot close properly, then the door latch switch will not be activated. If the switches are defective, then the control panel will not receive power, thereby making the dishwasher not start.
Inspect the door latch switches using a multimeter and do the continuity test. You need to replace the defective switches.
