For most Kenmore models, resetting your dishwasher is as simple as pressing three buttons three times in a sequence. This typically leads to “resetting” the machine and checking for any problems along the way.

To easily reset the Kenmore Elite dishwasher to standby, press buttons in the appropriate sequence as indicated on the control panel. 

In some cases, an error code will stop your dishwasher from working. In these instances, press any three keys in the sequence of 1-2-3 to reset the dishwasher and get it going again.

Allow no more than 1 second to lapse between any of the button presses so that this model resets. If it fails, we will provide other methods later in this post.

Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher Reset

This model also features something called “reset sequence.” It’s very similar to what you get on an Elite keyboard, but there are some added steps that go along with it.

Press any three keys in the sequence 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2 -3, not allowing more than one second to lapse between each press of the buttons.

This should cause all of the lights on your Kenmore dishwasher to light up green. Close the dishwasher’s door, and the “clean” light will start flashing. 

Once the “high temp” light begins to flash, wait a minute or so and then open the dishwasher. 

When your dishwasher displays this error, you can reset it in a couple of minutes by pressing the “high temp” button. 

This will reset the Kenmore dishwasher, and you can then shut it off and turn it back on.

Kenmore Quiet Guard Standard Dishwasher Reset

Resetting the Kenmore dishwasher is easy. All you have to do is open the door and wait for the water’s flow from that guide arm to stop before trying anything else.

  1. When the water stops spraying, check the soap dispenser. If the soap dispenser is empty, make sure to refill it. 
  2. Now, Close the soap dispenser door.

Kenmore Dishwasher Hard Reset

If these methods don’t work, try the start/reset path. You can do this on most Kenmore dishwashers by hitting the start button and waiting about two minutes until it resets.

If your dishwasher remains stuck in an error mode after the first two steps, cutting power (to the appliance) and restoring it should do the trick. Go to your breaker box to locate the breaker that your dishwasher is connected to. Flip this breaker off, wait about thirty seconds, then flip back on again into on status. Your Kenmore dishwasher will have one of two reset options. The heated dry reset or the outer button reset.

The heated dry reset is typically effective on most Kenmore models with a heated dry button and labeled “normal wash.”

Here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Press the heated dry button followed by switching to a normal wash. 
  2. Repeat the above step again. 
  3. After the four-push sequence, wait no more than a second before latching and closing the dishwasher. 
  4. After powering up the machine, a short cycle should begin to allow the dishwasher to reset.

Kenmore Dishwasher Select Cycle Reset

If your Kenmore has a select cycle button instead of one for normal wash, then you can do the select cycle reset. 

One model, the Kenmore 13802, is designed to reset this way. 

To perform the reset, press three series of buttons in sequence, three times each. Finally, press the fourth button to complete the process.

  1. Press select cycle, options and heated dry. 
  2. Repeat the Above Step Three Times.
  3. Now, all the lights should be on and you can press cancel/drain to start a quick test cycle.

Make sure you use the buttons in sequence, without taking a break between each button press. Lastly, make sure the dishwasher is closed and latched in order for the test cycle to begin.

Kenmore Dishwasher Pots and Pans Reset

If heated dry and normal wash sequences are unsuccessful, pots and pans reset schedule will help.

To start a washing cycle, there should be four options. Choose pots and pans for the first wash, then select normal wash and one-hour wash twice more.

Once the door is closed and latched, all of the lights should turn on. The dishwasher will then go through a short cycle once it boots up again.
